The Smallholding

Gary and I have been smallholders for many years and were known as the “Good Life People” where we lived in Wales until a few years ago.

We have now brought our passion for rearing our own animals to Wellington Farm and have joined The Devon Association of Smallholders.

The bacon and sausages are made here on the farm for our bed and breakfast guests.

Meat and produce can be purchased directly from our own Farm Shop on site.

Our Sheep are just pets now and are enjoying their retirement here at Wellington Farm.

“Toffee” our sow is a delight and adores having a chat with the guests and the occasional scratch on the back with the yard broom! She is a pedigree Saddleback who are renowned for their gentle nature. She has produced some adorable piglets.

“Polly” the border collie and “Pebble”, so called as she weighs less than a stone, are our pampered pooches who live on the farm with us in our cottage. They are not allowed in the guesthouse but occasionally Pebble has been known to sneak through an open door unnoticed much to the delight of the guests.

We brought our three horses here from Wales, the eldest is “Fred” a 26 year old Welsh Cob, Libby and Bullet are his friends who he shares the time of day with but not his dinner! They are have a wonderful nature and are so gentle.

Here are Wellington Farm we are blessed with an abundance of wildlife and have been visited by hedgehogs to Roe deer and have an amazing variety of bird life, including our resident Green Woodpecker. We have had an occasional visit from the cheeky fox who looked as surprised to see me as I did him.

In the warmer months guests are welcome to use the decked terrace where there is a picnic bench seating area. Although we do not serve alcohol, guests are welcome to bring your own and a selection of glasses are available in the lounge.
